He came to Grace Congregational Church in 1988 following six years of serving Lake View United Church of Christ in Iowa. A graduate of Lakeland College and Eden Theological Seminary, Kim enjoys being a Christian in the United Church of Christ.
Kim and his wife, Fay, are parents of three children and grandparents of Jacob. Nicole and Rob Herda live in Two Rivers. Erica lives in De Pere. Ryan is a student at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. They are all active in ministry at Grace Congregational Church. Kim was raised outside of Kiel, Wisconsin at Bethlehem United Church of Christ. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Kim’s hobbies include playing piano, reading, snow skiing, gardening, and boating.
For the past ten years, Kim, Fay, and other leaders at Grace Congregational Church have taken high school youth to the Appalachian Mountains where they have worked with the Appalachia Service Project. More than 300 youth and adults from this community have participated in these trips, improving the housing conditions of those who live in Central Appalachia.
Kim Henning teaches three adult classes at Grace Congregational Church and the two-year Confirmation program for youth. A highlight of each year, is the four day trip to Saint Louis where youth get to experience the wider work of the church in service to Jesus Christ.
Born and raised in the Chicago, Illinois suburb of Lisle, Meredith Anderson grew up at First Congregational UCC, Naperville, Illinois, knowing that a call to ministry could be a possibility. Following high school, Meredith ventured “south” to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for my Bachelors of Arts in English Literature. She completed the Certified Governess program at the English Nanny and Governess School in Chagrin Falls, Ohio before realizing that God had another plan. Meredith then returned to the Chicago area, where she began my “business” life and became a founding partner of HOPE Church, UCC in Naperville, Illinois. Stints in a variety of industries still were not quite what God had in mind. Finally, the call was answered and Meredith entered Eden Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in February 2002. Graduating in May, 2007, she found my way to the beautiful shores of “northern” Lake Michigan thanks to God’s leading and the Associate Pastor Selection Committee of Grace Congregational UCC.
Meredith's “family” includes her parents in Lisle, Illinois, sister Jennifer and brother-in-law Jeff in the Dallas, Texas area and nephew-dogs, Teddy and Buster; dear friends, across these United States, and as far as Hamburg, Germany and Tiruvanamalai, India.
As the Associate Pastor of Family Life and Education, Meredith's ministry comprises of overseeing the spiritual education of our congregation. The tasks of ministry are often performed by many lay members. The priorities of her call to Grace is to oversee those lay members, teach the confirmation classes, guide the high school youth program and help our young families develop ministries of discipleship in their homes. Lasting discipleship is fostered in homes, and supported by the Church.
