Christian education is a socialization process.
Throughout our program, fellowship is encouraged. As Jesus gathered with his followers, so too do we need to be in community, learning together. Each part of our religious instruction also has a fellowship component. Whether playing a game, or doing a project with 6th graders or having an overnight retreat with the confirmation class, our time together in fellowship is crucial to our faith development.
Our high school aged youth may gather one Sunday a month in the evening to watch a video clip and discuss how it affects our lives in Christ. On Wednesday evenings, youth also gather to discuss issues from school and their lives in a safe setting.
Christian education is personal development
Creating, developing and guiding disciples of Jesus Christ is a movement of transformation. Each of our education pieces seeks to transform lives by helping us see that there is another way to live a life with God’s guidance.
Education is so important to Grace Congregational United Church of Christ that we have a wing of our building dedicated to it. We have classroom space for all ages, a dedicated nursery space, and an Adult study room for gatherings and meetings.
Education is for all ages. As God’s children, we are growing, learning beings, created by God who still speaks to us today. Because God is still speaking, we need to learn and continue to grow to listen to the many ways we are being spoken to.
